Tempered
glass is a type of glass with increased durability due to applied thermal
procedures and treatments. Tempering is a treatment applied to glass to increase
its durability and resistance against any blows, shocks, pressure and thermal
strains without changing its other characteristics. Tempered glass acquires
durability against shocks which is 5 times higher than normal glass. Tempering
treatment is applied via a system that requires glass to be heated in special
furnaces under control at a temperature close to melting point (625-645°C) and
cooled suddenly under applied pressure to harden the glass. Tempered glass
becomes totally harmless when broken since it breaks into very small pieces.
Controlling at manufacturing phase (ECE-R43) is applied to be in compliance with
the standards.
For dyed glass, layer of paint is applied on the glass via screen printing
method. Screen printed glass is applied to tempering and thus the paint is
enabled to melt into the surface. There is no risk of the dyed surfaces to allow
scratches, breaking or separation for the dye.
The glass in our company products is under the warranty and traceability with
our ELMOB trademark and written statement (located behind all manufactured
glass) assuring the glass to be tempered. |
